CairoComix festival organisers announced the upcoming edition will be held between 22 and 24 September at the American University in Cairo Tahrir Campus. CairoComix first edition was launched in 2015 as the first and only festival for Comic in the country. The event brings together artists publishers and speakers from Egypt and around the world, for an extensive 3-day programme of exhibitions, talks and workshops. The full programme for this edition is yet to be announced by the organisers. Organisers said this year's edition will be held in collaboration with the iconic Egyptian comic magazine Samir. The event's poster features characters created by comic artist Hegazy named ‘Tanabla' (Sloths). “Three young kids, very lazy, chubby, always hungry, and yet have great energy to pull off elaborate heists!” the post reads. The founding artists behind CairoComix include Shennawy, co-founder of Tok Tok magazine and manager of The 9th Art Foundation; Magdy El-Shafei, author of the graphic novel Metro and Twins Cartoon; and brothers Mohammed and Haytham Ra'fat behind Garage comic magazine and founders of Kawkab El-Rasameen.
