The Egyptian short film Wintry Spring (Rabie Shetwy) won the award for best script at The African Film Festival (TAFF) held in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. Wintry Spring is written by Tamer Abdelhamid with director Mohamed Kamel. Starring Eman Mostafa and Ahmed Kamal, the 16-minute film depicts a relationship between a father and his daughter Nour. In an apparently otherwise regular relationship and life, typical youth problems emerge with Nour and create a rift between the two. The film was also nominated at TAFF for the Best Narrative Short, Best Actress and Best Actor awards. Wintry Spring premiered in France at the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2015.
The TAFF award is the 23rd prize garnered by the film in 130 international film festivals' appearance. Some of its major awards include the best short and best actor awards at the 2016 Italian festival Fotogramma d'Oro, and Best Short Film Award at the 2016 Sose International Film Festival in Armenia.
