Optimism prevails ahead of Confederation Cup final 2nd leg Coaches of both Tunisia's Club Africain and Morocco's MAS Fes express optimism about their respective team's chances in the second leg of CAF Confederation Cup final
After seeing his team snatch a precious advantage in the first leg on Saturday, Tunisia's Club Africain coach Faouzi Benzarti saw his team's 1-0 win over morocco's MAS Fes as one step closer towards the title. “We're satisfied with the victory and we achieved our goal of not conceding. We looked for an early goal to raise our confidence,” Benzarti told the Confederation of African Football (CAF)'s official website on Sunday. "MAS were not affected by the expulsion of their defender, Samir Zekroumi, because of their experience, while we lacked that on our bench. We tried to score more goals, but that wasn't easy as they played a good game. Also, luck wasn't on our side,” added Benzarti, who can boast numerous past African achievements with Tunisian clubs Esperance and Etoile of Sahel. MAS Fes will host Club Africain in the second leg on 4 December and Benzarti insists he has nothing but respect for his opponent. “We can get good results in the second leg and win the trophy, despite the fact that our opponents are very strong and gave us a hard time here,” concluded Benzarti. On the other side, MAS Fes Coach Rachid Taoussi, who played with ten men for most of the second half after Zekroumi's departure, is still confident of his team's abilities to recover at home. “The final is played in two halves – the first is over and we'll play the second at home. We will do our best to turn the tables and celebrate the title with our fans,” said Taoussi. “We conceded an early goal, but we played our normal game despite finishing the match with only ten players. We could have grabbed the equalizer, but that didn't work. I'm sure we will do our best at the next encounter,” Taoussi added.
