The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will head to Austria this week to perform two concerts in Vienna and Salzburg. The first concert will take place on Wednesday at the The Wiener Musikverein hall in Vienna, home to the renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and one of the top international music halls. The second performance will be held on Thursday at the House of Mozart in Salzburg. The delegation will be accompanied by the head of the Cairo Opera House, Inas Abdeldayem, and orchestra conductor Ahmed El-Saedy. The orchestra will also feature Korean soprano Sooyeon Kim, Russian mezzo soprano Lubov Stuchevskaya and Korean pianist Sunyoung Ro. The programme will present works by Wagner, Bellini, Offenbach, Delibes, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. According to a report by Al-Ahram Arabic, Abdeldayem said the tour was prompted by an invitation from an Austrian music institution to collaborate with the Egyptian Philharmonic Society for a cultural exchange. Abdeldayem added that she considers the tour a national mission, and the musicians ambassadors tasked with presenting the Egyptian culture scene to the world.
