Egypt's training camp for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opener in Tunisia on June 11 will kick off on either 2 or 3 June, Ahram Sports reported on Thursday. With the Ahly and Zamalek players expected to join the camp on 5 June, Egypt manager Hector Cuper decided to call on his foreign-based players a few days earlier. With Europe's major leagues due to conclude in May, the Argentinean boss is believed to be keen on recalling his Europe-based players earlier to prepare them after nearly a two-week break. Seven-time African champions Egypt, who finished runners-up to Cameroon in the 2017 Cup of Nations, will be looking to make what used to be a customary appearance in the Nations Cup for the second time in a row. The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group J alongside Tunisia, Niger and Swaziland as group champions alongside the three best second-placed teams make it to the tournament staged in Cameroon in January 2019.
