New boy Coulibaly strikes again to lead Ahly past Petrojet
Published in Ahram Online on 06 - 04 - 2017

After a stunning debut against Dakhleya a few days ago, Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly has maintained his scoring form after leading Ahly to a 2-0 victory against Petrojet on Thursday.
The 22-year old forward, who had his first starting role after scoring a double on his debut last Saturday, opened the scoring in the 40th minute to grab his third goal in only two games since joining Ahly last January.
Veteran winger Walid Soliman secured the three points of the game in the 78th minute.
The Reds – with 58 points after 22 games - are now seven points clear on top ahead of second placed Maqassa to edge closer to their 9th league title in the past 10 seasons.
Hossam El-Badry's men started the game with early pressure on Petrojet in an attempt to get a quick lead. However, Petrojet's and former Egypt coach Hassan Shehata kept his men behind the ball to close down gaps in front of Ahly players.
Ahly defender Ahmed Hegazi could have engraved his name on the score-sheet but was unlucky to see his header from inside the area go over the bar.
Hegazi was much unfortunate to leave the pitch at the half hour mark with an injury to be replaced by Rami Rabia.
Ahly's most lively player Coulibaly also had another header miss the target from a corner kick.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 40th minute when midfielder Hossam Ashour deprived Shebeta from the ball to set up the Ivorian clear into the goal to slot the ball past the keeper.
After the interval, Ahly seemed more confident with Coulibaly posing a major threat on a Petrojet's defense that was more open as their midfield was pushing forward seeking the equaliser.
Coulibaly, the former Kilmarnock forward, scored another goal but it was ruled out for offside. He kept the defenders on their toes with his pace and physical game. He also showed great understanding with Soliman and Abdallah El-Said combining in the final third.
In the 78th minute, Soliman came at the end of a long ball from Ahmed Fathi to skip past the keeper and score in the empty nets to put the game beyond reach.
