Egypt's Meteorological Authority said on Friday that cold weather will continue nationwide through Saturday, particularly along the northern coast, Upper Egypt and central Sinai.
Heavy rain and wind are expected along the north coast, the Nile Delta and Cairo.
In Cairo, temperatures will reach daytime highs of 17 degrees Celsius and night lows of 10 degrees.
The Mediterranean city of Alexandria is expected to see a high of 16 degrees and a low of 11.
The Red Sea cities of Marsa Alam, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada will witness slightly warmer weather with an average high of 18 degrees and a low of 13 degrees.
As usual, the town of Saint Catherine will be the coldest in the Sinai Peninsula, dropping to a low of 3 degrees over night.
Upper Egyptian cities will mostly see cold weather similar to Cairo, with average temperatures of 18 C highs and 10 C lows in Aswan and Luxor, and an average high of 17 C and average lows of 10 C in the governorates of Assiut, Sohag and Minya.
Windy conditions are expected to cause turbulent maritime navigation in both the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
The average wave height in the Red Sea will be 2-2.5m, while in Mediterranean Sea it will be 2.5-3m.
Authorities have closed on Friday Damietta port on the eastern Mediterranean due to high, turbulent waves.
Egypt has been experiencing a wave of cold weather in the past days, with moderate rains in some parts of the country and fog in the early mornings.
The northern Damietta governorate has been seeing heavy rainfall since late Thursday, leading to the closure of a fishing port, according to media reports.
