Ahly defender Rami Rabia will miss Thursday's Cairo derby against Zamalek after picking up a serious ankle injury during training on Sunday. According to the team's doctor, scans will further determine the extent of the injury but the 22-year-old will not be available for the anticipated Egyptian Premier League clash. Rabie had just returned from a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for a long spell. He made two appearances after recovering from the knee injury - coming on as a late substitute in a 3-1 league win over Masry before playing the full 90 minutes against lower-tier Aluminum in the Egypt Cup on Thursday. Egyptian international Rabia, who has been a regular member of the Pharaohs' squad lately, is also likely to miss next month's Africa Cup of Nations after the latest setback. On the other hand, fellow Ahly defender Ahmed Hegazy, who usually partners Rabia in the heart of Egypt's defence, resumed training on Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two weeks. The player trained normally but his participation in the Cairo derby is not certain.
