Ahly will boycott the 2011/2012 Egypt Cup in protest at the Egyptian Football Association's marketing rules. “The association ignores the clubs marketing rights and this costs us a lot of money,” reads a statement on the club's official website published following a board meeting held on Wednesday. The Red Devils also object to EFA sponsorship rules that oblige the club to put an advertising logo of the association's sponsor on their team shirts “without the club's approval” and contradicts the club's own commitments. “The Ahly board refuses to give up the club's marketing rights for the Egyptian Premier League season,” the statement insists. The Cairo giants refused to attend the league opener's post-match press conference as Ahly technical staff refused to be pictured in front of a logo of the association's sponsor. The EFA responded on Tuesday with a firm statement reminding the club of the association's rules obliging them to attend press conferences or face a fine. Under the presidency of Samir Zaher, the association announced that "Wednesday 19 October is the deadline for Egypt Cup registration" and the draw will be held Thursday. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/24579.aspx
