'Clash' released in cinemas, screenings extend to Egypt's governorates
Published in Ahram Online on 28 - 07 - 2016

Clash, the highly anticipated film by Egyptian director Mohamed Diab, was released in Egyptian cinemas on 27 July.
The film is being screened in more than 35 movie theatres across Egypt.
In Cairo, "Clash" is being shown at Cinema Karim, Cosmos, Lido and Hilton Ramsis in Downtown, Sun City in Heliopolis, City Stars cinema, Wonderland and Tiba Mall in Nasr City, Point 90 and Porto Cairo in New Cairo, Americana Plaza in Sheikh Zayed, Bandar in Maadi and in other movie theatres across the capital.
The film is also being screened in a number of movie theatres across Alexandria, and in the North Coast, Sharm El-Sheikh, Tanta, Mansoura and Zagazig.
Co-written by Khaled Diab and Mohamed Diab, who also serves as director, the film is a co-production between France, Egypt, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
"Clash" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and was listed by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the 10 best films at the festival.
The film explores -- in an unusual manner -- the confrontations between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and the group's opponents that emerged after the removal of the former president Mohamed Morsi from power in June 2013.
Most of the film takes place inside an eight metre long police truck, with detainees representing different societal groups.
Nelly Karim, alongside Tarek Abd El-Aziz, Hany Adel, Ahmed Malek, Ashraf Hamdi, Mohamed Abdel Azim, and Gamil Barsoum star in Clash.
