Squash: Egypt's Shabana claims US Open title Egyptian squash star Amr Shabana beats world number one Nick Matthew to win the US Open for the second time
Four-time World Champion Amr Shabana claimed a second U.S. Open title within three years after defeating top seed Nick Matthew 3-1 (11/9, 8/11, 11/2 and 11/4) in the final game. The Egyptian third seed dominated his foe Mathew from the beginning and edged to win the first set but the Englishman did his best in the second as he finished it 11/8. Shabana managed to come out on top after producing a determined and fine display for the rest of the match. “It was a good match, and it's such a relief to win a major tournament again. It's been a tough couple of years, at times I thought I might never win again but I've been playing well this week and my body held up which is the important thing," Shabana said after the game. “I'm just glad you were all here to witness me winning again and I hope I can carry on playing well and win some more,” he added.
