Forget about 6-1 loss to Ghana, says Egypt coach Cuper
Egypt will be vying with Ghana for a World Cup spot once again in a group comprising minnows Uganda and Congo

Egypt manager Hector Cuper called on fans to forget about the humiliating 6-1 defeat by Ghana in 2013 after the Pharaohs were drawn with the Black Stars in the 2018 World Cup qualifying Group E.
Entering the draw in pot 2, Egypt will be vying with Ghana for the World Cup ticket after they were paired together in a group that also comprises minnows Uganda and Congo.
Despite Egyptian fans not particularly holding good memories regarding the national team's last meeting with Ghana, Argentinean boss Cuper believes the situation is totally different now.
"I call on all fans to forget all about the 6-1 defeat by Ghana in 2013, the situation is totally different now," Ex-Valencia boss Cuper told Egyptian sports website FilGoal.com.
"For sure I can't guarantee beating Ghana or defeating any other team. All I could guarantee is doing our best to reach our goal which is World Cup qualification.
"Our group is the best among all the other groups."
Two crunch World Cup qualifying groups have seen Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria and Zambia drawn together in Group B, while Ivory Coast, Morocco, Mali and Gabon will all be competing to win Group C.
Following a smooth qualifying campaign that saw Egypt finish top of a group constituting Mozambique, Guinea and Zimbabwe, a 6-1 away playoff defeat by Ghana in Kumasi came to dash Egypt's World Cup dreams.
Going into the return leg trailing by five goals, the maximum Egypt could do was to win 2-1 – bowing out of the World Cup qualifiers in what have become a customary elimination after last reaching the prestigious tournament in 1990.
With Egypt looking convincing under Cuper, who managed to take the side to next year's Africa Cup of Nations after winning a group that included Powerhouses Nigeria, fans will be hoping the 60-year-old boss would be able lead a turnaround in their fortunes this time around.
