Documentary to be made on Egyptian director Shady Abdel Salam
The longtime assistant of Shady Abdel Salam is preparing to make a documentary about his tragic end and unfulfilled dreams

The Egyptian director Mohamed Shaaban will be making a documentary on Shady Abdel Salam, one of the most important filmmakers in Egyptian cinematic history.
Shaaban worked as an assistant to Abdel Salam for more than 10 years and witnessed the making of the film Ikhnaton, which never saw the light of day.
Shaaban reveals that his film talks about Abdel Salam and his plight in not fulfilling his last dream, which is realising the film Ikhnaton, as well as Ikhnaton's own tragic life.
Shaaban adds that the film mixes between the lives of both Abdel Salam and Ikhnaton in a magical realist manner and links between the tragic endings that both endured.
Shaaban worked with Abdel Salam during the preparation of the film in 1972 and contributed to the scriptwriting, costume design and accessories. He also chose shooting locations.
