DP World, operator of Egypt's Ain Sokhna port, will reopen the port in the few coming hours after the company's workers promised to end their strike and get back to work, the Red Sea Ports Authority (RSPA) announced moments ago. The port operator had shut down its Ain Sokhna site on Thursday due to labour strikes that the company says have cost it about 30 million Egyptian pounds ($5.02 million) in lost revenue. The RSPA said the company was forced to shut down the port after shift workers refused to return to work even after the company had promised to meet all of their sixteen demands on Wednesday. Workers began their strike on Tuesday to press for hardship allowances, wage restructuring and the dismissal of managers accused of mistreatment.
