Zamalek new signing Ahmed Hassan netted twice in the second half to fire the Whites past Wadi Degla 4-1 in Egypt Cup

Zamalek under the helms of Egypt Legendary coach Hassan Shehata got their campaign off to a convincing start with an entertaining 4-1 win over Wadi Degla in Cairo stadium on Tuesday.
After an awkward start of the game that saw them go down with a goal from Hassan Mostafa, the Whites produced a master class second-half performance courtesy to braces from Ahmed Hassan, 73 and 78 and second-half substitute Ahmed Gaafar 64 and 86.
A spark not just made by the effort and talent of the players but Shehata had to work his magic combining all his art to reverse the situation and deliver an amazing performance.
A stunning start for Wadi Degla
Wadi Degla took the initiative and created the first threat on Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed's goal when former Lierse (Belgium, First division) midfielder Mohamed Abdel-Wahed unleashed a 25-yard shot that just went over the bar.
Inspirational midfielder Ashour El-Taqi produced a fine performance breaking through the Whites' defence all over the first half.
Hassan Mostafa – who has switched camps in the summer – converted his team's domination in the 23rdminute with a blast from outside the area that went in the top corner to put Degla on top.
Despite looking sluggish, Zamalek still had chances to go ahead early especially when Mahmoud Abdel-Razek “Shikabala”set up Amr Zaki inside the box but he missed the target.
Hassan leads Zamalek comeback
The Cairo giants eventually found their rhythm and laid the siege on Wadi Degla's goal. Shehata brought in two quick substitutions in Ahmed GaQafar and Ibrahim Salah replacing Hussein Hamdy and Salah Soliman to switch his style of play from a 3-5-2 formation to a 4-4-2 offensive formation.
Mahmoud Fathallah could have scored the equalizer just four minutes into the second half but keeper Essam Mahmoud denies him from inside the six yards.
Gaafar delivered immediately his goods picking out a bad deflected ball to restore parity at the hour mark from a well placed shot.
Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan, 36, put his team two up with a diving header and an easy slide in just 10 minutes to prove that he is at the top of his form despite going through the 17thseason of his career .
But it was Gaafar who completed the rout after being sent clear by Omar Gaber to score his second goal of the game.
Zamalek will watch Wednesday's game between Asyut Petroleum and Gouna to know their quarter-final's opponent.
