Ahly coach Martin Jol backs Hossam Ghaly in Egypt staff row
Martin Jol believes the Ahly skipper is one of the best African players and a key element for Egypt

Ahly coach Martin Jol has voiced his support for team captain Hossam Ghaly, hailing him as one of Africa's best players and saying that he hopes that the Egyptian national team staff will resolve their recent disputes with the player.
During a televised interview late on Thursday, Jol spoke about the dismissal of the Ahly skipper from the national team squad.
"Ghaly is one of the best African players, as well as Rami Rabia, Hegazy and all Ahly players in Egypt's national team squad," said the Dutch tactician.
"One of the reasons I accepted Ahly's offer is because of Hossam Ghaly's presence on the team's squad as he is one of the most talented players I have dealt with. I hope he gets the same respect and appreciation he enjoys at Ahly," Jol added.
The 34-year-old Ghaly, who has made 74 appearances with Egypt since making his debut in 2002, is engaged in a row with national team assistant coach Osama Nabih, who supported the player's dismissal from the squad after he insulted some of his teammates during training sessions, according to local media reports.
Ghaly, a skilful schemer who is often lauded for his astute passes and leadership skills is one Ahly's key players.
The club is on course to win their ninth league title in 10 seasons.
"I didn't hear any problems in the national team members, but I hope Ahly players will be part of the team," Jol said.
"I hope also all Ahly and national team players are respected as the club does with them," the Ahly coach concluded.
National team supervisor Hani Abou-Reida is set to hold a meeting on Friday with Pharaohs coach Hector Cuper, his assistant Nabih and Ghaly to settle the matter.
