Ahly preserve eight-point lead on top after 2-0 Egyptian league win
Ahly claim a 2-0 win over El-Entag El-Harby to continue their bid towards a ninth Egyptian Premier League title in 10 seasons
Published in Ahram Online on 17 - 05 - 2016

Second-half goals from substitutes Walid Soliman and John Antwi earned Ahly a 2-0 Egyptian league home victory over El-Entag El-Harby that preserved their eight-point lead on top as they moved a step closer to winning the Egyptian Premier League title.
A tame shot from Walid Soliman took two wicked deflections to wrong-foot the keeper in the 58th minute before a bullet header from Ghanaian striker John Antwi ensured the win 10 minutes from time.
The victory cemented Ahly's position on top of the league table with 65 points, while Entag, who are coached by ex-Egypt boss Shawki Gharib, remained ninth on 39.
With Ahly still eight points clear of arch-rivals and defending champions Zamalek with six matches remaining, they look well equipped to win their ninth title in 10 seasons.
Evouna wastes major chance
The visitors seemed the more energetic side early on, dispossessing Ahly on more than one occasion, creating two-half chances from Ali Eid and Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo' inside the opening three minutes.
The first real chance, however, came from the league leaders, with striker Malick Evouna dropping deep to receive the ball before turning and exquisitely overcoming the challenge of two opponents to break clear, only to miss the target with the goal at his mercy.
Midfielder Abdallah El- Said then unleashed a strike from outside the area in the 15th minute but ex-Ahly keeper Amir Abdel-Hamid gathered the ball.
The tempo then slowed down till the end of the first period, with Ahly dominating possession and Entag sitting deep in an attempt to hit their opponents on the counter attack.
Two substitutes win game for Ahly
Just six minutes into the second half, El-Entag could have well taken the lead on the break, when a brilliant effort from Ahmed Magdi was only stopped by a great save from keeper Sherif Ekramy.
The counter-attack saw Magdi delightfully elude center-back Rami Rabia before evading Sabri Rahil to go through on goal before Ekramy got a hand to the forward's strike to keep a clean sheet.
The lively Ramadan Sobhi then replied seven minutes later with a shot at the near post from inside the area, but this time the winger was denied by keeper Abdel-Hamid.
And it was just one minute later when Ahly took the lead through Soliman, who has just replaced Moemen Zakareya, when his half-volley was deflected by two defenders as it eluded keeper Abdel-Hamid and went into the net.
Ahly then had two chances in quick succession in the 70th minute when El-Said saw a header denied by keeper Abdel-Hamid, who again thwarted Sobhi to keep the ball out for corner.
Fifteen minutes later, another substitute doubled Ahly's advantage when Antwi, who replaced Evouna, pounced on Rahil's excellent cross with a powerful header that left Abdel-Hamid with no chance.
