Zamalek's new coach Hassan Shehata has named his 20-man squad for Tuesday's game against Wadi Degla in the Egypt Cup quarterfinal.
The roster included veteran midfielder Ahmed Hassan, defenders Hany Said, Salah Soliman and Karimu Al-Hassan, Mahmoud Said and striker Hussein Hamdy - who all joined Zamalek in the close season.
Zamalek's towering striker Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido' will miss the game due to fitness and weight problems. The squad will be trimmed to 18 players before the match.
The Cairo giants are eager to end a three-year title drought, having not lifted any trophy since their Egypt Cup triumph in 2008 under Dutch coach Ruud Krol.
Zamalek squad:
Goalkeepers: Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed , Mahmoud Gennesh.
Defenders: Mahmoud Fathallah, Hany Said, Salah Soliman, Karimu Al-Hassan, Hazem Emam, Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, Ahmed Samir.
Midfielders: Ahmed Hassan, Omar Gaber, Mahmoud Abdel-Razek “Shikabala”, Ahmed El-Merghany, Ibrahim Salah, Mahmoud Said, Alaa Aly.
Forwards: Amr Zaki, Ahmed Gaafar, Hussein Hamdy, Hossam Arafat.
