Ahly maintain 100 percent record under Martin Jol to edge closer to league title
Published in Ahram Online on 04 - 05 - 2016

Ahly crushed bottom side Haras El-Hodoud 4-0 on Wednesday in Alexandria to maintain their 100 percent Egyptian league record under coach Martin Jol and move closer towards winning a ninth title in 10 seasons.
A brace from Moemen Zakareya and goals from defenders Rami Rabia and Saad Samir gave Ahly, who seemed hardly affected by the 60th-minute dismissal of skipper Hossam Ghaly, their sixth straight victory under Dutchman Jol.
They kept their 11-point lead over arch rivals and nearest challengers Zamalek intact and, with nine matches remaining, they moved closer to claiming the title.
Ahly played the last 30 minutes with ten men after Ghaly committed a last-man foul just after he was robbed on the edge of the area but El-Hodoud, who need a miracle to stay in the top flight, failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.
Central defender Rabia headed home from a corner to give Ahly the lead six minutes before the break.
Attacking midfielder Moemen Zakareya made it 2-0 on 52 minutes with a far-post header following a superb cross from winger Walid Soliman.
Ahly keeper Sherif Ekramy parried a powerful free kick from El-Hodoud's Ahmed Salem following Ghaly's dismissal but that was as close as the hosts got.
Zakareya added the third goal for the Red Devils with a superb looping shot from the edge of the area on 70 minutes before a fluke goal from Saad Samir completed the rout with 10 minutes remaining.
