Twenty Kuwaiti lawyers have decided to represent the relatives of the martyrs and those who were injured at the hands of the police during the January 25 Revolution against toppled president Hosni Mubarak, said Nasser El-Heify, president of the Kuwaiti Lawyers Union.
Recently, ten Kuwaiti lawyers who evidently think highly of Mubarak have decided to represent the deposed president himself, a decision that stirred up anger and controversy in Egypt and Kuwait as well.The former president is accused of instigating the killing of peaceful protesters in the January 25 Revolution and abusing his unfettered power to accumulate illegal profits for years.
El-Heify stressed that Kuwait's bilateral relations with Egypt are quite strong, and said that the Egyptian revolutionaries haveset an example that honours all Arabs.
He also voiced disgruntlement with the ten Kuwaiti lawyers who want to represent Mubarak.
The trial of Mubarak resumes tomorrow. Three sessions have already been held.
