Angry Nubian protesters torch Aswan governorate building
The group is also staging a sit-in, protesting against the PM's visit and demanding a new governor for Aswan

Tens of Nubian protesters torched the Aswan governorate building in the city of Aswan earlier today after blocading the Corniche road. Army troops intervened to evacuate employees from the building, according to news reports.
The Nubian protesters decided to have a sit-in at the garden of the governorate HQ to object to Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's visit to Aswan. They were angered by the fact that the prime minister instead of appearing in an open meeting with the Nubian community, chose to hold a closed meeting with 30 Nubian figures, selected by the authorities.
The protesters accuse Sharaf of making them false promises, and demand a replacement governor for Aswan, instead of Mustafa El-Sayad, whom they accuse of insulting them.
The Nubians are demanding the right to return to and own land around Lake Nasser in compensation for the loss of their land in 1960s after the construction of the Aswan High Dam. This is the fourth Nubian protest since the revolution demanding the right to return to Lake Nasser.
