Ahly coach Martin Jol lauded Young Africans for their brave fight in Saturday's 1-1 African Champions League draw in Tanzania, saying his side had not yet guaranteed a place in the competition's group stage. A header from lone striker Amr Gamal put the Red Devils ahead after 11 minutes at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam but an own goal from central defender Ahmed Hegazy brought Young Africans level eight minutes later. Ahly will be favourites to reach the group stage when they host Young Africans in the second leg on 19 April but Dutchman Jol urged his side to remain focused on getting a home win. "Young Africans are a very good side technically and tactically and they played a good game. However, we took the lead and could have won had it not been for some wasted chances," the former Tottenham Hotspur boss told the post-match news conference. "But nothing is finalized yet, we need to focus more on the second leg to get the result we need." The Red Devils are bidding to win a record-extending ninth Champions League title and their first since 2013. They have won two Egyptian Premier League games under Jol to go nine points clear of second-placed Zamalek. They also overcame Angola's Recreativo de Libolo with a 2-0 aggregate win in the Champions League round of 32.
