Five Egyptian comedies to hit cinemas for Al-Fitr festival Cinemas will bring a bit of light entertainment to Egyptians across the country following the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, notorious for its heavy television serials
With Ramadan drawing to a close and the three day festival of Eid Al-Fitr beginning on Wednesday 31 August, cinemas across Egypt prepare to premier five new comedy films. Among the featured films are Tik Tik Boom staring Mohamed Saad, Mohamed Lotfy, Lotfy Labib, and Dorra. Tik Tik Boom is about a store owner is an alley in Cairo. As the revolution breaks out in Cairo, he joins the neighbourhood watchmen at night to protect his district. The second film, entitled Sharei El-Haram (El-Haram Street), an entertaining feature staring Saad El-Soghair, Dina, Lotfy Labib, Maha Ahmed, and Madeline Tabar. Ana Badei Ya Wadei (I Am Lost, Wadei) is another film to be featured during the holiday. The comedy is based on El-Tohami, a film producer featured in a series of parody TV ads by Melody TV along with his sycophantic assistant Wadei. Since the release of the ads, both characters have gained a high level of notoriety among Egyptian television audiences. The fourth film is entitled Yana Ya Howa (It's Either Me or Him) and is about a young man named Said who finds himself stuck in a bind day after day. The fifth and last film to be released is titled Bibo we Beshir (Bebo and Beshir) staring Menna Shalabi, Hany Adel, Ezzat Abou Ouf and Safia El-Emari. The romantic comedy is about an African-Egyptian man who falls in love with an Egyptian lady, Bebo, played by Shalabi.
