Darb 1718 to screen Boy at its Ramadan FIlm Festival Waititi's comedy-drama promises to be an enjoyable addition to the festival, having previously won praise at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010
As part of its Ramadan FIlm Festival 2011, Darb 1718 will screen Boytomorrow, Monday 22 August. Written and directed by Taika Waititi, Boy is a comedy-drama feature that takes place in New Zealand. Boy tells the story of an 11-year-old boy (James Rolleston) who lives on a farm with his grandparents and has never seen his father. Then comes the day when his father appears back in his life, and the child has to face the reality that his father is not the heroic figure he had imagined. According to the Sundance Film Festival 2010, Boy was well received by the audience who attended. The film was among the 14 selected features out of 1022 submissions to Sundance's World Cinema Dramatic Competition. At its screening during the festival, back in 2010, film reviewer Eric Kohn is reported to have said, "the film marks a step up in maturity [for Waititi].” The screening of the film will be onMonday22 August at 9pm Darb 1718,Kasr El Shame'i Street Al Fakhareen, Old Cairo.
