With the date set for the opening day of next season's league campaign, it's left for the remaining promoted team to the Premier League to be decided, with Ahly's Abou-Trieka supporting former club Tersana's bid The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced Wednesday that the forthcoming season of the Egyptian Premier League will start on Friday 14 October. “All the top flight clubs have been informed of the league's launch date,” EFA's executive manager told Ahram Online. The first Egyptian league to start since the January 25 revolution will feature 20 teams instead of 16 after relegation was cancelled last season due to the break caused by the popular uprising that ousted former president Hosni Mubarak. Ittihad, Arab Contractors and Smouha - who all finished in the relegation places last season - will remain in the top flight. Ahly's Abou-Treika supports Tersana for the top flight ticket Police-owned club Dakhlia, Beny Sweif Telephones and Ghazl Mahalla have already won promotion to the Premier League. The fourth team will be determined by a mini three-team league featuring the sides who finished second in the three groups of the second division: Mansoura, Tersana and Aswan. Mansoura are currently in the driving seat of the tournament's table after beating Aswan last Saturday and they will win promotion if they defeat Tersana on Wednesday. Egypt and Ahly star Mohamed Abou-Treika visited his former club Tersana on Tuesday to support them ahead of their next two crucial games.
