Mohamed Elneny believes he has proved he deserves a place in Arsenal's starting line-up after taking part in an exciting 2-2 Premier League draw at Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby on Saturday. The Egyptian midfielder made his first Premier League start as 10-man Arsenal secured a share of spoils via a 75th-minute goal from Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez. He was replaced on 75 minutes, making way for French striker Olivier Giroud. "Arsene Wenger has confidence in my abilities and the abilities of all the players … we had a good game against a strong opponent," Elneny told beIN Sports after the game. "I wanted to prove that I deserved a place in the starting line-up, and I think I earned my place today." The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined from Swiss champions Basel in January, made his second league appearance with Arsenal, having come on as a late substitute in the 3-2 loss to Manchester United last week.
