Egypt will not be able to face Brazil in a friendly game in September due to their commitments in the African Cup of Nation s qualifiers, Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher said on Friday. The Brazilian Football Confederation said on their website on Thursday that the Selecao will play a friendly against Egypt on 6 September but the EFA denied that an agreement had been made. Zaher said the Pharaohs were keen to play such a high-profile match but their tight schedule will not allow them to do so. Egypt, whose hopes of qualifying for next year's Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are virtually over, will face Sierra Leone in the penultimate qualifier early in September. “The problem lies in the date of the match. We will have no problems playing the match if it is rescheduled to October,” Zaher told Ahram Online. Egypt last met Brazil in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, where they suffered a last-gasp 4-3 defeat after producing a brave display. Egypt are currently without a coach after Hassan Shehata was dismissed in June. Three foreign managers are vying for the vacant seat - American Bob Bradley, Colombian Fancisco Maturana and Serbian Zoran Filipovic. The seven-time African champions lie at the bottom of Group in the Nations Cup qualifiers with two points, six behind leaders South Africa.
