Elmohamady expects better season for himself and Sunderland Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamedy believes he and his club, Sunderland, will be better next season
Ahmed Elmohamady said on Tuesday that Sunderland are ready for the new season despite the tough competition which awaits them in the English Premier League. The Black Cats, who signed Elmohamady on a permanent basis after he spent the last season on loan from Egyptian side ENPPI, will be looking to improve on their tenth-place league finish last term. “It will be a very difficult start to the season – Liverpool away and Newcastle at home. I'm really looking forward to it,” the Egyptian international winger was quoted as saying on Journal Live. “It's all about fitness and with two (pre-season) games left, I think we're ready. The fitness is okay and we have two weeks left. We have two friendly games left and everything is running smoothly. We should be fine for Liverpool.” Coach Steve Bruce was busy in the summer transfer market as he signed nine players in Keiren Westwood, Sebastian Larsson, David Vaughan, Wes Brown, John O'Shea, Craig Gardner, Connor Wickham, Ji Dong-won and Elmohamady. Elmohamady, 23, made a fine impact during his maiden season in the Premier League. He hopes to make further progress next term. “I feel much better this year because I didn't really have a proper pre-season last year. I feel much fitter,” he concluded.
