Egypt rail revenues fall during first half of 2011
Passenger trips see marginal fall while cargo transport declines over 15 per cent in the uprising's aftermath, say official figures

Revenue from railway passengers and cargo both fell in the first half of 2011, according to figures from the Egyptian cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
Income from passenger transport fell by 0.8 per cent, reaching LE406.3 million compared to LE406.4m over the same period in 2010.
Revenues from cargo saw a decline by 15.6 per cent, dropping to LE123.1 million against LE145.9 million in 2010.
The IDSC's annual report also revealed a 22.6 per cent slump in the number of corporations established during January-June 2011, with 2,965 companies created in the first six months of this year next to 3,831 in 2010.
Issued capital for existing financial corporations also fell by 47.3 per cent to reach LE4.89 billion from 2010's LE9.28 billion.
