March 9 University Professors Movement demands removal of university presidents
University professors demand the Cabinet's decision to remove university presidents be approved by the military council, followed by speedy elections

Around 30 university staff members staged a demonstration in front of Cairo University on Tuesday demanding that elections be conducted to replace current university presidents and faculty deans associated with the former regime.
The March 9 Professors Movement for the Independence of Egyptian Universities has released a statement signed by 100 staff members demanding that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces quickly approves the council of ministers' decision to remove university presidents by the beginning of August.
The statement demanded that the approval be issued before the new academic year starts to avoid chaos and guarantee that the newly-elected presidents are able to deal with any potential complications before the new term commences.
