Head of Dubai's banking hub ousted in shake-up Dubai's ruler replaces the governor of the Dubai International Financial Center after a two-year posting
Dubai's ruler is replacing the head of the emirate's prominent Dubai International Financial Center banking hub with the man charged with overseeing its regulation. Abdullah Mohammed Saleh was named as governor of the financial center according to a statement dated Monday. It was posted on Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's website. The change is effective immediately. Saleh replaces Ahmed Humaid al-Tayer, who has held the post since late 2009. Al-Tayer was also replaced as chairman of government-controlled Emirates NBD bank last month. Saleh is chairman of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, which regulates the DIFC. It's unclear if he will continue in that post.
