Tahrir's Mogamma is reopened by revolutionaries 'The Mogamma is open by the orders of the revolution,'read a banner which greeted the government building's employees and visitors after a three day shut down by Tahrir protesters
Tahrir Square protesters have opened the Mogamma, Egypt's largest administrative governmental building. Protesters gathered between 5:00 and 6:00 in the morning to organise the opening. The governmental building had been shut down since last Sunday. The protesters held a survey at the sit-in on whether they should open up the Mogamma or not. The majority called for the re-opening o f the Mogamma. The protesters hanged a banner on the large gate that stated, "The Mogamma is open by the orders of the revolution," and received the employees of famous administrative governmental building with patriotic chants, including "The people are one hand" and the Egypt's national anthem. The first round of employees and visitors, including foreign nationals, were handed sweets. Some thanked the demonstrators. The protesters distributed a statement at the building assuring that the current sit-in would not impede their work and called on them to take part in any future acts of civil disobedience. Last Sunday, a number of protesters shut down the building as another escalation of protesting and a move towards civil disobedience. The move stirred several feelings among Tahrir's protesters, as some feared similar moves would turn the public against the protesters.
