Hawi to compete in Durban International Film Festival El Batout's Hawi will participate in the 32nd Durban International Film Festival taking place in South Africa
Film director Ibrahim El Batout will travel with his current film, Hawi, to the South African city of Durban to participate in the 32nd Durban International Film Festival set to take place between 21 and 31 July. The film will be shown twice, on Sunday, 24 July then on Sunday, 31 July, in order to compete with 22 other participating films. The film has received a special award in the 8th Annual Tarifa Africa Film Festival hosted in Spain, which specialises in movies of the African continent. The festival was hosted between 11 and 19 June and honored the film for its serious research about the political reality in Egypt and its relation with the current overall political state. Moreover, the film recieved the Critics Award in the 17thannual Rabat Film Festival which held between 24 June and 2 July, 2011. Hawi is currently being screened in cinemas in Egypt.
