Algeria's new coach targets 2013 ACN and 2014 World Cup
Algeria's new Bosnian coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, sets his sights on the future but knows that past mistakes must be addressed

Algeria's newly appointed coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, revealed on Thursday that his main objective is to qualify for the 2013 African Cup of Nations (ACN) and contest the 2014 World Cup.
“My main target is to book a place in the final rounds of the 2013 African Cup of Nations and another in the 2014 World Cup,” Halilhodzic was quoted as saying in Algerian newspaper Elheddaf.
The 59-year-old tactician signed a three-year contract with the Algerian Federation, replacing former coach Abdelhak Benchikha who resigned after a 4-0 loss to Morocco in an ACN qualifier earlier this month.
“Before leading the team, I have to find the reason of the defeat to Morocco to enable the players to return to their previous performance in 2010,” he added.
The Bosnian asserted also that he will appoint an unnamed French assistant coach to help him in leading the Algerian team.
Halilhodzic has in the past taken French side Lille from the second division to the Champions League as well as coached Paris Saint-Germain, Raja Casablanca and Trabzonspor.
