ElBaradei tops popularity poll for Egypt's next president

Ex-IAEA director general, ElBaradei, is the next preferred president, according to a Facebook poll conducted by Egypt's ruling military

Mohamed ElBaradei, former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) comes first in an online poll for presidential candidate.
The poll was conducted on the Facebook page of Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which rules the country along with the interim government.
Mohamed Selim El-Awa, one of Egypt's most prominent Islamist publicists and writers, is the second on the list; while Ahmed Shafiq, former interim prime minister, was voted third.
Amr Mousaa, the former Arab League Secretary General who is perceived to be a frontrunner for Egypt's top job, along with ElBaradei, surprisingly came fourth.
Omar Suleiman, the ex-intelligence chief who served as vice president in the latest days of toppled president Hosni Mubarak in power, is fifth on the list. He has recently announced his intention to run for presidency.
Other prominent candidates, such as Kamal El-Ganzouri, Hamdeen Sabahi and Hesham El-Bastawisi did not get many votes.
The ruling military council announced the poll is only conducted to reflect the public opinion and won't affect the presidential elections by any means.
Presidential elections should take place late this year.
