Three Arab music bands offer one concert on Saturday For only one night three major bands of the Arab world will come together at River Hall in El Sawy Culturewheel on 25 June
Only for one night, three bands will come together at the River Hall in El Sawy Culturewheel on 25 June. The one big concert features Autostrad, a band from Jordan, and two Egyptian bands: Salalem and Ressala. Marking their fifth visit to Egypt, Autostrad features some of their funk, reggae and world music in their native language. The band formed in 2007 and released their first album in 2008. With the revolution, they are back, but a bit revolutionised themselves. Categorised as indie pop, Egyptian band, Salalem, was formed in 2005. They add a spattering of everything to their simple, funky tunes, which they sarcastically humorous Egyptian lyrics into. Finally, Ressala, the final Egyptian band performing in the 25 June concert, features contemporary Egyptian songs. Ressala performs songs that describe the spirit of the band, which parallels that of Egyptian youth. The mega-concert will last three hours, starting at 8pm. Programme: Saturday, 25 June, 8pm El Sawy Culturewheel, River Hall (Zamalek, at the end of 26th July Street, under the bridge)
