Egyptian Trezeguet appears in Anderlecht's "no to discrimination" image after Instagram row
Published in Ahram Online on 25 - 09 - 2015

Egyptian midfielder Mahmoud 'Hassan' Trezeguet appeared in an image titled "no to discrimination" that was published by Anderlecht on Friday after he caused a media storm by posting a controversial picture on his Instagram account.
Earlier this month, the 20-year-old shared a doctored photo of Anderlecht fans welcoming his arrival to the team, but blurring out the faces of female supporters. Some fans considered the censorship to be offensive.
Hassan, nicknamed Trezeguet due to his resemblance to former France striker David Trezeguet, joined Anderlecht on a season-long loan from Cairo giants Ahly.
"Following the unacceptable Instagram post by Trezeguet … the club held a press conference on Friday at the training complex of Neerpede," Anderlecht said in a statement on their official website.
"RSC Anderlecht made clear that they condemn any form of discrimination. For this reason, the club posted a message on the cover of the magazine for the match against STVV, and printed 20,000 copies of it.
"The picture will be shared by all of the club's social media accounts, so that as many people as possible are reached."
Both the club and the player had already apologized and the photo was quickly deleted.
Trezeguet, a product of Ahly's youth academy, scored five goals and created six others in 31 Egyptian Premier League appearances last season as the Red Devils finished second behind arch-rivals and winners Zamalek.
He also helped Ahly win the 2014 league title and African Confederation Cup.
