Egypt's Sisi to kick off three-day Beijing visit as part of Asia tour
Published in Ahram Online on 01 - 09 - 2015

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is set to travel to Beijing Tuesday, the second stop in his Asia tour aimed at boosting cooperation and drawing foreign investments to Egypt.
El-Sisi just concluded his trip to Singapore, the first by an Egyptian president, which featured talks on combating terrorism in the region, bolstering mutual ties, and promoting investment in the North African country.
The president's trip to China, from Tuesday through Thursday, came after an invitation by his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to take part in ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, state news agency MENA reported.
El-Sisi is to meet Jinping Wednesday to hold talks and sign several cooperation accords including a $100 million loan from China to finance small and medium-sized projects in Egypt.
El-Sisi is also expected to meet top Chinese business leaders to bolster trade and economic ties between the two countries, and seek investment in Egypt.
Since he became president last year, El-Sisi has made reviving the country's battered economy and restoring security after years of political tumult the keystone of his rule.
He will conclude his trip to China by attending a military parade Thursday, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Japan's surrender that marked the end of World War II.
The celebrations will be attended by a slew of heads of state and world leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
El-Sisi's will end his Asian tour by visiting Indonesia next.
