In a press conference at Zamalek headquarters on Monday, Zamalek have announced the contract extension of the team's Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira for another year at a monthly salary of $50,000. "Zamalek extended the contract of coach Ferreira for one season," Zamalek board member Hani Zadah announced during the press conference. "Ferreira's salary will be $50,000 as he will sign a fitness coach and pay his salary from his own money," Zadah added. Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour confirmed that Ferreira was helpful during the contract extension negotiations. "Negotiations with coach Ferreira to extend his stay with the team didn't take very long, as reports say the pay out clause was reached quickly," Mansour said during the conference. "Ferreira's contract pay out clause will be only three months from his salary," the Zamalek chairman added. Ferreira took over at Zamalek in February, becoming the fourth coach to take charge of the club last season following Hossam Hassan, Jaime Pacheco and caretaker manager Mohamed Salah. Ferreira, the 69-year-old tactician, led Zamalek to win their first Egyptian Premier League title since 2004. He also kept the team's hopes of winning the CAF Confederation Cup alive as they still play in the group stage of the tournament. Ferreira thanked Zamalek fans and management for their support for the team during the last season, denying any problems with the team's management, which is headed by Mansour. "After the end of my contract I decided to leave Zamalek, but the management and fans' request for me to stay forced me to extend the contract immediately," Ferreira said. "There were no problems during the contract extension negotiations as media reports claimed." "I respect the Zamalek chairman, he is one of the best characters I have dealt with," the Portuguese tactician added. "I ask the Egyptian Football Association to organize the new season games well to give the players a time of rest," Ferreira concluded.
