Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman qualified for the 50m butterfly final on Friday in the World Swimming Championships in Russia's Kazan, setting an Egyptian and African record in the process. Osman finished with25.88 seconds, beating her own record of26.08 which she achievedlast June at Arena 2015 Pro-series in Santa Clara. Swedish world record holder Sarah Sjostrom came first of the heats with 25.06 seconds. Osman, the 20-year-old swimmer who plied her trade at Cairo's Gezira club, finished 7th in the 2013 Barcelona World Championships, marking the best ever result for Egypt at the World Swimming Championships. She will be eyeing a historic medal when the 50m butterfly final takes place on Saturday.
