Zamalek football director Hassan handed one-match ban Zamalek's fiery-tempered football director, who is already under the spotlight for some controversial comments, banned for one game for dissent
Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan has been suspended for one game and fined EGP 5,000 for dissent following Zamalek's 1-0 Egyptian Premier League loss to Maqassa. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) competitions committee punished Hassan after he was sent off for protesting the referee's decisions in Zamalek's surprise defeat. Hassan, the twin brother of head coach Hossam, was widely criticized recently for some controversial comments which many pundits said could ignite tension between Zamalek and arch-rivals Ahly. Zamalek were also handed a 20,000 fine after their fans threw stones onto the pitch as the EFA vowed ‘to come down hard' on crowd troubles. Ahly, who compete with Zamalek for the league title, were also fined 50,000 due to similar behavior from their supporters. The Red Devils were also sanctioned after six of their players picked up yellow cards.
