De Gea denies deal in place with United Atletico de Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea has denied a deal has been struck that will take him to English Premier League champions Manchester United
In a statement released by his lawyer to Spanish media late on Wednesday, the highly-rated 20-year-old said he would not consider any offer, either a contract extension with Atletico or any other, until he had completed his duties with the Spanish under-21 team at the end of June. “In the light of articles in various media that indicated he (De Gea) had been signed by Manchester United, he wants to deny said reports as it is not true he has been signed,” the statement said. United manager Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports News on Tuesday the club were closing in on a deal to sign De Gea as a replacement for Dutchman Edwin van der Sar, who will retire after Saturday's Champions League final. British media reported an agreement was in place and De Gea would cost up to 21 million euros ($29.5 million).
