Court refuses former head of Shura council appeal and extends his detention
Safwat El-Sherif to be detained for another 45 days pending investigation for corruption

The North Cairo court ruled on Tuesday against the appeal of former head of the Shura council Safwat El-Sherif. El-Sherif had appealed a 15-day detention order pending investigation of his corruption case.
The court ordered today an extension of his detention for another 45 days pending investigation.
El-Sherif is accused of using his former position illegally to increase his fortune. He is currently facing investigation by the Illicit Profiteering Authority.
