At least eight people were wounded in a "terrorist" rocket attack on residential areas of the Syrian capital on Thursday, state news agency SANA said, citing a source in the Damascus police headquarters. Shells fired from the east of Damascus could be heard landing in the centre of the Syrian capital, a witness said, and media reported that rockets and shells fired by Islamist insurgents had hit residential areas. A witness in Damascus heard more than 30 bombardments in quick succession. Lebanon's Hezbollah-run al-Manar television said the projectiles were fired by Islam Army, an insurgent group based in the eastern Ghouta region on the outskirts of the capital. Local radio Sham FM said the projectiles had hit at least five areas of the capital, including the historic Old City.
