Huge fire destroys Giza Shabrawishi fragrance factory
Fire at the factory of a major perfume and cosmetics companies in Egypt raged until midnight but left no casualties

A huge fire broke out late on Tuesday at the Shabrawishi fragrance factory in Giza, where over a dozen civil and military firefighting trucks were deployed.
The fire in the working-class district of Omraneya raged until midnight but left no casualties, state news agency MENA quoted provincial governor Ali Abdel-Rahman as saying.
Shabrawishi, which was established in 1924, is one of the oldest and largest perfume and cosmetics companies in Egypt.
Around 20 firefighting trucks were sent to the scene, and the army said in a statement it had sent fire trucks to help extinguish the flames.
Eyewitnesses said in TV comments that the blaze has completely damaged the building.
Power supply to the area was cut to help prevent the fire from sweeping through surrounding buildings in the densely-populated area, municipality head, Mohamed Fawzy, said.
Some residents of adjacent buildings evacuated fearing the fire would spread to their homes.
The governor said investigations on the cause of the fire were underway.
