Ahly boss Juan Carlos Garrido blamed his strikers for failing to deliver as his side slumped to a 1-0 defeat by fellow title challengers ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday. The Red Devils' hopes of defending the title they won the past eight seasons suffered a blow as they fell 11 points behind leaders and arch-rivals Zamalek. They had the upper hand against ENPPI but squandered a handful of goal-scoring chances during the game, with veteran striker Emad Meteb, who started as a lone striker, once again failing to impress. "We must be more clinical," Garrido, whose position is under scrutiny after Ahly suffered their third defeat this season, said in the post-match news conference. "We produce five or six chances every game but convert only one of these chances." "We had the chance to win against ENPPI, Petrojet and Masry but we lost seven points," he added, pointing the finger at the misfiring frontmen. Ahly won just once in their past five matches, having drawn three games before Tuesday's defeat by ENPPI.
