Senegal drop Demba Ba from 2015 AFCON provisional squad
Published in Ahram Online on 26 - 12 - 2014

Senegal Coach Alain Giresse has announced on Friday a 28-man provisional squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations that didn't include star striker Demba Ba.
The 29-year-old, who lies third in the Turkish League scorer's chart, has scored 8 goals in 11 league games this season.
Despite his goal-scoring prowess, it seems Giresse is not a big fan of the former Newcastle and Chelsea striker.
The Frenchman, who has been in charge since February 2013, has called him up twice during his tenure and left him out of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers.
It is believed that both have had some arguments although none of them talked about that explicitly.
Over the past few weeks, several former stars have requested that Ba be included in Senegal's squad, saying they believe his form and experience are valuable and that any differences should be put aside.
The Teranga Lions, who are back to the continental stage after missing the 2013 edition, have been drawn in Group C, labeled group of death, along with Algeria, Ghana and South Africa.
The 28-man squad:
Goalkeepers:Bouna Coundoul (Ethnikos Achnas FC/CYP), Lys Gomis (Trappani/ITA), Pape Demba Camara (Sochaux/FRA), Ousmane Mane (Diambars)
Defenders:Zargo Toure (Le Havre/FRA), Lamine Gassama (Lorient/FRA), Lamine Sane (Bordeaux/FRA), Kara Mbodj (Genk/BEL), Pape Ndiaye Souare (Lille/FRA), Papy Djilobodji (Nantes/FRA), Boukary Drame (Atalanta/ITA), Ibrahima Mbaye (Inter Milan/ITA), Cheikh Mbengue (Rennes/FRA)
Midfield:Cheikhou Kouyate (West Ham Utd/ENG), Pape Kouli Diop (Levante/ESP), Idrissa Gana Gueye (Lille/FRA), Stephane Badji (Brann/Nor), Salif Sane (Hanover/GER), Pape Alioune Ndiaye (Bodo Glimt/NOR), Alfred Ndiaye (Real Betis/ESP).
Strikers:Moussa Konate (SC Sion/SUI), Diafra Sakho (West Ham Utd/ENG), Mame Birame Diouf (Stoke City/ENG), Sadio Mane (Southampton/ENG), Moussa Sow (Fenerbahce/TUR), Papiss Demba Cisse (Newcastle Utd/ENG), Henri Saivet (Bordeaux/FRA), Dame Ndoye (Lokomotiv Moscow/RUS)
