Raneem El-Welily booked her place in the World Squash Championship for the first time after securing a 3-1 victory over England's Alison Waters in Cairo on Friday. The 25-year-old won the first two games 11-6 and 11-9 before losing the third 9-11. However, the fourth game went her way with a 11-5 win as El Welily made up for two failed attempts to reach the final in the last two editions after last-four defeats. She has set up a mouthwatering game against firm favourite Nicol David of Malaysia, the world number one who claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win over fellow Egyptian Omneya Abdel Kawy earlier in the day. El Welily famously beat David in the final of the Malaysian Open in 2012. However, she lost to her in the Hong Kong Open final twice in 2011 and 2013.
