Algeria's ES Setif became the second African outfit to be eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco after slumping to a surprise 1-0 loss to New Zealand's part-timers Auckland City. Defender John Irving scored the winner seven minutes after the break when his low shot went through a crowd of defenders and under keeper Sofiane Khedairia. Setif mounted a late onslaught but were largely toothless as Auckland City reached the semi final for the first time in six appearances in the annual tournament that comprises the continental champions. Auckland will face South American champions San Lorenzo in the last four as Setif's first Club World Cup adventure prematurely ended. Setif qualified for the tournament after winning the African Champions League at the expense of Congo's AS Vita Club last month. Hosts Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco were also eliminated from the first round after suffering a 4-3 defeat by Auckland on penalties following a goalless draw on Wednesday.
