Egypt and Ahly striker Amr Gamal has suffered a cruciate ligament injury that will sideline him for up to six months. Minutes before half time in Monday's goalless away draw at newcomers Assiouty Sport, Gamal was forced off the pitch with what seemed to be a serious injury, making way for Emad Meteb. Fears of a cruciate ligament tear were finally confirmed in the early hours of Tuesday, after Gamal underwent scans on his knee. This means Ahly will be without their main man upfront for around six months, which would see him also miss Egypt's crucial CAN 2015 qualifying fixtures against Senegal and Tunisia. The 23-year-old Gamal, who bagged Egypt's opener in the recent 2-0 qualifying home win over Botswana, scored eight league goals for reigning champions Ahly last season.
